ARTIST Alison Lapper came face to face with her own work at an unusual portrait exhibition in London.
Alison, who lives in Shoreham, was among the members of the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists whose work attracted much attention at the Camden Image Gallery.
The exhibition, ‘The Mouth and Feet That Made Them Famous’, featured pictures of British icons from the worlds of sport, music and entertainment, focusing on those very feet or mouths.
Singer and television presenter Alesha Dixon was the subject of Alison’s painting, her sparkling smile filling the frame. Other celebrities on view included cycling legend Sir Bradley Wiggins, Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton Du Beke and hero of England’s World Cup rugby victory in 2003, Jonny Wilkinson.
Guests at the preview evening last week commented on the high standard of the work on view, and how thought-provoking they found the paintings.
The exhibition closed on Tuesday, the day before the launch of the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists’ Christmas cards yesterday. Alison has been a regular contributor to the festive collection, which can be seen at www.mfpa.uk
