YOUNGSTERS are being told to stay away from the Shoreham skate park.

The open-air facility, on the corner of Brighton Road and Ham Road, has been made out of bounds while travellers are in the area.

About ten caravans, plus associated vehicles, broke into the Adur Civic Centre car park on Monday night.

The travellers have ignored a Notice of Direction requiring them to leave by lunchtime today, and Adur District Council says it will now apply for a Court Order at a hearing early next week.

The Shoreham Skatepark Facebook page reports: “Please be aware that the bowl is out of bounds for use until it has been cleaned and sanitised.

“Travellers have invaded the council’s staff car park and have been caught on CCTV using the bowl as a toilet. It is covered in human excrement and urine at the moment. Stay clear until further notice.

“The flood lighting is now switched off until the travellers have vacated the area.”

It is advised the skate park could be closed until Tuesday at the earliest, due to the legal procedures.
