A SHOREHAM College pupil achieved a special certificate for his model of the solar system.

Archie Aldiss, from year seven, presented the model as his entry in the headmaster’s challenge at the college in in St Julian’s Lane, Shoreham.

The pupils were asked to independently explore the work of Einstein celebrating the 100th
year of the publication of his ideas on time and space.

Shoreham College’s headmaster Richard Taylor-West said: “The model was beautifully worked and presented, demonstrating a real engagement with the project.

“It gives our pupils an opportunity to work on their own and take ideas in different directions.”

He added: “The project was a real success, so much so that I found myself having lunch with a group of our pupils last week who bombarded me with the facts they had learned about his notions of time and space, how time shifts and bends and the fact that Einstein hated wearing socks.

“You certainly learn something every day working in education.”
