LIFEBOAT crews had to go in search of a yacht in distress, drifting off Shoreham with one person one board.
Shoreham RNLI launched the all weather lifeboat to a yacht calling mayday at 7.30am yesteday.
It was originally reported as being six miles south west of Shoreham but when the lifeboat crew arrived at that position, it was not in sight.
The boat with one person on board was eventually found drifting 12 miles south west of Shoreham, with broken rigging and mechanical failure.
It was taken under tow by the lifeboat and assisted into the harbour and through the lock gates.
