SCOUTS will be out in force with mops and buckets for their annual car wash.

Members of the 2nd Steyning Scout Group are hoping their car-washing skills will be rewarded with a charity donation.

They will be at Mayberry Garden Centre, in Old Shoreham Road, Portslade, on Saturday, from 11am to 3pm.

Eager Scouts will take up residence in the car park, offering customers the chance to have their vehicle scrubbed and sprayed while they shop.

Jayne Michalska, Scout group leader, said: “We did this event last year and the customers at Mayberry were really keen to help support our group.

“The Scouts enjoy the event and are keen to get going. We are looking forward to coming back and arming ourselves with sponges and buckets.”

Mayberry runs two car washes a year, working with local youth group including the Scouts and cadets.

Andy Hesketh, retail manager, said: “It’s a great opportunity for our customers to support a local youth group, and get their car cleaned to a high standard for a very reasonable price at the same time.”
