ONE year’s worth of fundraising will be organised by a Sainsbury’s store for a Shoreham-based charity.
The West Hove store launched its new charity partnership with Sussex Sailability last month, which includes fundraising and awareness support.
Customers had the chance to nominate their favourite charity before the final decision was made.
Mick Ingledew, manager at the Old Shoreham Road store, said: “We’ve had a great response from our customers this year, both through in-store and online votes.
“We’re delighted to have chosen a charity which touched many of our colleagues’ hearts.
“We will now be working closely with the charity to ensure they really benefit from being our local charity for the next 12 months.”
Volunteers from the charity took along a boat and equipment used to the launch day, so customers could find out more about its work.
John Mactear, Sussex Sailability chairman, said: “We know the success that the local charity partnership has bought to many charities in Sussex, so when we received the news, we were thrilled.
“We hope the partnership will help raise awareness of our cause among the store’s customers and help us develop the important service we provide to the community.”
Last year, the store raised £4,311 for the Sussex MS Treatment Centre.
