MAVERICK guitar player Richard Durrant returns to his home turf for a solo gig at Ropetackle Arts Centre in Shoreham.

Richard, who lives on Shoreham Beach, is billed as the barefoot, stand-up, un-classical guitarist who seems to stretch the emotional and technical boundaries of his instrument more and more as the years pass.

He said: “Its only a wooden box, but there’s quite a lot to find if you take the time to look inside.”

Last year, he was included in the Brighton Walk of Fame and did a cycling tour of the UK.

Plans for this year include a main slot at Wilderness Festival in August and an invitation to return to Paraguay as artistic director at the Guitarras del Corazon guitar congress in October.

He is also repeating his eco-friendly Cycling Music tour, which will see him carry his entire stage show by bicycle and trailer across 2,000 miles for UK performances.

Tickets for the Ropetackle concert on Friday, February 26, are £15, with concessions. Call 01273 464440 to book.
