The majority of Arun residents have backed the UK leaving the EU in yesterday’s referendum.

The area is the second to last area in Sussex to declare this morning, with the majority of voters in Rother, Eastbourne, Crawley, Chichester, Adur, Worthing and Hastings also backing the leave campaign.

Lewes, Brighton and Hove, Horsham, and Mid Sussex, are the areas in the county so far to back the remain side.

The turnout in the Arun district was 77.86 percent, and of those 62 per cent backed leave, compared to 38 per cent voting for remain.

However as Arun result was declared the leave campaign had already clinched victory.
