ADUR East Lions’ mascot Jasper was delighted to present a generous donation to the children of Buckingham Playgroup in Shoreham.

Last Wednesday (October 21) the playgroup in Eastern Avenue accepted a £500 cheque to fund new trikes for the children’s outdoor area.

A spokesman for the playgroup said: “We are a charity run playgroup and rely heavily on donations and fundraisers.

“This, for us, is absolutely wonderful news! It couldn’t have come at a better time for us.”

Last month the playgroup was burgled leaving the staff and parents shocked.

The money will provide a much needed boost for the pre-school, and all funds raised go straight back into the equipment and daily running costs of the playgroup.

Lion president Jim Pummell said: “Every penny raised by the Lions goes back out in donations and Adur East aim to make most of their donations to the local community.”

Jasper entertained the children while Mr Pummell met with playgroup staff.
