A STEYNING driver has been arrested after a Shoreham paperboy reported being followed by a man in a dark car.
At 9.10am on Saturday, September 20, police received a call from a 14-year-old paperboy who said he had been followed by a man in a dark vehicle for about 45 minutes.
The incident took place in the area of Shoreham between Buckingham Road and Eastern Avenue.
Police stated that the boy had not been approached or harmed in any way.
Following an immediate police search of the surrounding area, a 52-year old Steyning man was arrested in a car nearby on suspicion of harassment by stalking.
After being interviewed, the driver of the car was released on police bail until November 15 while officers continue their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Andy Westwood of Sussex Police said officers were still seeking to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
DI Westwood appealed to anyone who had been in the area around Buckingham Road and Eastern Avenue on Saturday morning who had seen a man in a dark car acting suspiciously to get in touch with the police.
