Community companion – St Barnabas House hospice

St Barnabas House community companions are volunteers who provide social and practical support to patients and their carers.

They offer befriending, sitting or practical support to patients and carers in their own homes to encourage and support independent living which in turn leads to increased wellbeing.

St Barnabas House will provide you with full training covering the principles of palliative care, moving and handling, lone worker training, supervision, boundaries, data protection, confidentiality and safeguarding.

Volunteer recovery coach, family coach and community coach – Emerging Futures CIC

Emerging Futures CIC believes that everyone has the potential to grow, learn and achieve the best they can in everything they do.

They are looking for volunteers to work in the community supporting people in recovery from addiction; working towards building a recovery community across West Sussex.

Role requirements are as follows: recovery coach – in their own sustained recovery for six months or more; family coach – have experience of family member addiction,; community coach – want to make a difference in their community.

You must be over 18 for this role and a DBS check will be required.

Information and advice caseworker – Age UK West Sussex

Age UK West Sussex Information and Advice (I&A) service provides information and advice to older people on matters such as welfare benefits, health and social care, housing and local services.

Volunteers deal with a wide range of enquiry areas, including benefits and debt, employment, housing, community care, family and personal matters, and consumer problems.

In this volunteering role, you will be helping the I&A service to support older people to access welfare benefits, deal with money issues – such as debt and bills, access health and social care services, improved housing, and other related issues – by providing timely support, following up with their enquiries, and taking action.
