Southwater Junior Academy pupils make some noise at music conference
The pupils – Harry, Henry, Freya and Rory attended the conference, which was co-organised by the advanced skills teacher for primary music, Mrs Kear, and the curriculum leader for primary music, Mrs Sutton.
Over 50 music teachers and music educators from across Sussex attended the training event, during which they had the opportunity to attend a variety of professional development workshops.

Hide AdThese included sessions on how to inspire children through stomp-style rhythm challenges, Indian tabla drumming, creative song-writing, singing and signing songs with British Sign language and a national music project honouring the 100 composer, Benjamin Britten.
Marianne Newman, of Southwater Junior Academy, said: “Our talented Year 4 children helped Mrs Kear to ‘teach the teachers’ how to teach, energise and inspire children through rhythm challenges and activities.
“The children supported the delegates in two hands on, practical, noisy sessions!
“Thank you Freya, Henry, Harry and Rory for being absolute stars and representing the school superbly. A great achievement. Very well done to you all.”
