Next week, organisations all over the world will come together to raise the awareness of mental health issues.

Monday (October 10) is World Mental Health Day and this year the global campaign is psychological first aid, and support people can provide to those in distress.

Throughout the week (October 10 to 15) Worthing’s fourth mental health awareness week will be launched.

All week there will be events to raise awareness of mental health, and where help and support is available.

From gardening to mindfulness, living with dementia to colouring for relaxation – you can find out more about what’s happening in Worthing next week at: www.worthingmentalhealthawarenessweek.org.uk

Mental health issues might actually be more common than you think.

One in four of us will be affected by mental illness in any year and nine out of ten people with mental health issues experience stigma and discrimination.

One in ten young people will experience a mental health problem and nearly three in four young people fear the reactions of friends when they talk about their mental health problems.

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is our locally commissioned provider for mental health services in Coastal West Sussex.

They provide care and treatment for people with conditions such as psychosis, depression, anxiety, dementia and personality disorder.
