CHILDREN aged four to 11 are invited to enter a mythical maze, designed to encourage reading.
The annual scheme, run by charity The Reading Agency, aims to get primary school children to visit libraries and share a range of books.
Children are urged to recommend books to friends, family and carers and give reasons for their choices.
East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton is supporting the campaign.
He said: “I hope parents, grandparents and carers in East Worthing and Shoreham will take their children to the library to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge.
“It’s free, inclusive and makes reading fun – a vital ingredient in building literacy.
“Last year, 11,752 children in West Sussex took part in the challenge. I hope we can increase that number this year and show local libraries what a valuable asset they are to us and our community.”
This year’s theme is Mythical Maze and parents can take their children along to any library in the area to sign up. More information is also available at summerreadingchallenge.org.uk.
