THE history of pubs in Steyning will be explained on a walk with Dr Janet Pennington on Sunday.
The Steyning Pub and Breweries Walk will take people through half a millennium of the town’s liquid history.
Dr Pennington said: “See where malthouses, inns and public houses were situated in the past and whether we can find any trace of them today.
“The White Horse, Chequer Inn, Norfolk Arms and Star are fortunately still trading. See and hear something of their history on this easy walk with plenty of stops.
“There will be time for a drink at any (or all!) of the pubs afterwards.”
Meet at the Steyning Centre car park, opposite St Andrew and St Cuthman Church, at 10am.
The fee is £2.50 and there is no need to book in advance. The two-hour walk will go ahead whatever the weather and dogs on leads are welcome.

Dr Pennington also runs a Steyning Scandal Walk but she said she will be taking a break from walks during August.
