EAST Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton popped into a Southwick school today, dressed as Father Christmas.
He was taking part in Wear a Santa Suit Day to raise money for St Barnabas House hospice in Worthing.
He visited Eastbrook Primary Academy, where he watched the key stage two children and school choir rehearsing songs and readings for their Christmas concert, then visited reception classrooms, where the children were doing a range of Christmas-themed activities.
Later on, year-six pupils asked the MP a number of questions.
Mr Loughton made several other visits dressed as Santa today, including to Higgidy pie makers in Shoreham.
Neil Francis, community fundraising manager for St Barnabas House, also went along to the Manor Hall Road school.
He said around 680 businesses, groups and schools had signed up for the fundraiser, including Holmbush Primary School in Shoreham.
Last year, Wear a Santa Suit Day raised more than £12,000 for St Barnabas House and it is hoped this total will be smashed in 2013.
