Church Treasurer John Simpson said more than £200 had been raised for the Friends of St Nicolas, to help maintain the fabric of the ancient church, which is more than 1,000 years old.

Song sheets were provided and in between the sing along songs, Slipjig treated the audience to some lively reels.

The core members, Mike Taylor, Simon Buck, Luke Carter and Tim Carter, were joined by guests musicians to create a ‘Slipjig collective’ for the evening.

Tim Carter introduced the songs and Mike Taylor sang the verses, with the audience joining in the choruses.
