The Old Shoreham Buccaneers danced outside the cottage, in Southwick Street, all afternoon on Saturday, helping to attract visitors to the new exhibition.

Southwick, Sea and Ships features paintings of the sea and ships at Southwick over the last 150 years, all drawn from Southwick Society’s collections.

Secretary Nigel Divers said there was a steady stream of visitors on Saturday to see the varied range of scenes, including steam paddle tugs, world war two defences and construction works in Shoreham Harbour in the 1950s.

Manor Cottage Heritage Centre is run by volunteers from the Southwick Society and admission is free. It is open on Saturdays, 10.30am to 12.30pm, until September 27, with extended opening until 4pm on Saturday and June 7.
