BIRTHDAY balloons were sent flying into the sky to mark the 15th birthday of Amelia Leclercq, who died last year.
Family and friends gathered yesterday on her memorial bench at Mill Lane Cemetery in Shoreham and then all called out “Happy birthday Amelia”.
They then stood by her graveside to let off the balloons and watch them fly off into the distance while blowing plastic recorders.
A party at Hector’s Shed, in East Street, Shoreham, followed, including pizza and a heart-shaped birthday cake.
Jane Leclercq, Amelia’s mum, said: “She loved this kind of thing and I know she would be really happy.”
Amelia, a student at Shoreham College, had a rare bone marrow illness, aplastic anaemia, and died on August 14.
