Use it or lose it, Adur fund organisers warn

Nearly £15,000 is up for grabs to help good causes or community projects in the Adur area – but only until February 21.

Adur County Local Committee still has that amount of money left to allocate from its Community Initiative Fund for the 2012/13 financial year.

The committee is urging any individual or group from the Adur area who need financial assistance for a project which will benefit the community to make an application before the deadline.

Adur County Local Committee chairman Angie Mills said: “The committee has the opportunity to spend this fund on things that make a difference to people in Adur.

“There must be plenty of projects out there which could do with our help, so please get in touch and apply before the deadline expires.

“Use it or lose it!”

Grants made by the committee have helped plenty of people this year.

David O’ Connell runs the Shoreham Allstars music group and mentors more than 50 budding musicians aged from eight to 14.

He successfully applied to the fund for £2,154, to buy a PA system and speakers so the young bands can perform live.

David said: “We were able to buy the PA and equipment just in the nick of time, as we were losing our old equipment.

“It has been fantastic. The sound is great so it benefits them and benefits the audience watching.

“We are going to be using this equipment a lot next year.”

Application forms and information on how to apply for grants can be found at www.westsussex.gov.uk
