POLICE say the car set alight in Southwick yesterday had been stolen earlier the same evening.
They had to close Downsway in the early hours of Monday as the car had been left ablaze in the centre of the road.
Sussex Police said: “At 3.22am on Monday, August 11, we were called by ther fire service to a car on fire in Downsway, Southwick.
“Nobody was in the car, which had been stolen earlier that night from outside a house in the Hangleton area of Hove.
“The fire is being treated as suspicious.”
Firefighters were at the scene for 50 minutes, dealing with the fire using a hose reel and two breathing apparatus.
