STEYNING slimmers turned pounds of weight into pounds of cash for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The Steyning Slimming World group, which meets at the St John Ambulance HQ in Middle Mead, used their weight-loss efforts to help charity.

The six-week sponsored slim, part of the national Slim for Good campaign, saw 52 slimmers from the morning group lose a total of 21st 11lbs, raising £333.

Carol Chamberlain, who runs the group, said they chose Great Ormond Street (GOSH) because the son of one of the members had been admitted there last Christmas for life-changing surgery to one of his limbs.

“Supporting a worthwhile cause like GOSH has given everyone a special focus and real commitment to their weight-loss goals.

“For many members being sponsored has been a great way to kick start their weight loss and for others it’s been a boost to help them stay on track.

“Six weeks doesn’t sound like a long time, but in that period I’ve seen so many changes, people losing weight, feeling happier and healthier than ever.”

Steyning Slimming World sessions are held on Wednesdays at 10am, 5.30pm and 7.30pm. Call Carol on 07927 114258.
