A SHOREHAM pub could be serving its very own beer later this year, if plans to set up a microbrewery succeed.

ob Jones, the man who set up Dark Star Brewery, will soon take ownership of the Duke of Wellington and has big plans for the future.

The aim is to build a microbrewery out the back of the Brighton Road pub and start creating new beers, which are likely to have the hoppy style for which he is known.

Brodie Dawson and Sara Edon, who will run it day to day, are already in place, having taken over from Sara’s brother John in October last year.

They are managing the pub for the next few months, then Rob will take over the management when he retires from Dark Star in the next few months.

“Rob will be setting up the brewery,” explained Brodie. “He set up Dark Star in the first place. He is going to set up a microbrewery at the back and will be creating new beers.”

Rob moved to Shoreham three and a half years ago and the Duke of Wellington became his local. Ever since, he has wanted to build it up and secure its future.

Detailed plans are currently being prepared before a planning application is made in the next few weeks. If this succeeds, it is hoped they will be brewing ale before the end of the year.
