A SHOREHAM county councillor has been praised for her 100 per cent attendance record.

Cllr Debbie Kennard, who was elected last May to represent the Shoreham division on West Sussex County Council, has a wide range of responsibilities.

She is deputy cabinet member for children’s services and sits on the health committee, as well as a number of outside organisations.

Ms Kennard is also an Adur district councillor for Buckingham ward and has served on the council since 2003.

The annual meeting of the Buckingham branch of East Worthing and Shoreham Conservative Association, held on February 1, heard Debbie has not missed a county council meeting.

Mike Simpson, from the office of Tim Loughton MP, said: “She has so far managed a 100 per cent attendance record at all the committees she sits on at County Hall.”

At the meeting, branch chairman Emma Evans was readopted as the Conservative candidate to fight this year’s Adur District Council elections for the ward in May.

She said: “I am thrilled to have, once again, been given the opportunity to defend my Adur District Council seat in May.

“Debbie and I are very proactive in the ward and are always available should residents need us. I hope to be re-elected to continue the good work in partnership with Debbie.”

Mr Loughton, who attended the meeting, praised the hard-working pair of councillors.

“We are very lucky in Shoreham to have two such hardworking and dedicated councillors as Emma and Debbie,” he said.

“They are both heavily involved with local case work all year round and fighting for local interests such, as the new Shoreham bridge and dealing with illegal encampments, yet also manage such an impressive attendance record whether it be at Chichester or Adur’s Civic Centre.

“The other parties should take a leaf out of their book and I hope that in May, local residents will appreciate how well represented they are and it is not by accident that the Conservative-controlled Adur Council has done such a good job of producing a council tax freeze for a fourth successive year whilst maintaining the high quality of our local services.”
