Shoreham business raided for metal worth thousands
Thousands of pounds worth of metal items have been stolen from a Shoreham business.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the burglary at Edwards Vacuum Ltd, in Dolphin Road, over the weekend of January 12 to 14.
“A large number of expensive metal items were stolen from the premises together with two forklift trucks,” said a police spokesperson.
Police recovered the forklifts in a car park off Church Green, Shoreham, on Monday and these are now being examined by forensic experts.
Two men allegedly stripping lead from cables on a flat bed truck in Kingsland Close, Shoreham, were then reported to police. It is believed the cables were stolen from the burglary at Edwards Vacuum.
A man aged 24 from Shoreham was arrested on suspicion of burglary and a man aged 29, also from Shoreham, was arrested for handling stolen goods. Both have been interviewed and released on bail until January 24.
Witnesses or anyone with information that can assist the investigation is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101, quoting serial 0253 of 14/1.
