BOTH Shoreham lifeboats were launched to search for two swimmers off Worthing on Saturday.
But just as the offshore lifeboat was making its way to the scene, the pair were seen coming out of the water by the coastguard.
The alarm had been raised soon after 7.30pm because the two men had gone swimming more than an hour earlier and had not been seen since. They had gone into the water between Worthing Pier and the Lido.
The inshore lifeboat was launched at 7.45pm and the offshore lifeboat was then launched to join the search at 8.10pm.
Once it was reported the swimmers were safe, both lifeboats returned to station.
