SHOREHAM RiverFest returns for a second year, bigger and better than before.
Celebrating life on the river, the festival will be held across the town, including East Street, Coronation Green, Beach Green and Adur Recreation Ground, over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
It all kicks off will be a launch party in the RiverFest marquee on Coronation Green on Friday, August 22, from 7.30pm to 11pm, with the bands Music Box and Quadrophonia. The evening will include fundraising for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.
Three days of celebrations follow, from Saturday, August 23, to Monday, August 25, featuring live music, the arts, food and drink markets and a swan race.
New additions this year include a classic car show on the Sunday and three drive-in movies on Adur Recreation Ground.
Adur Outdoor Activities Centre will be hosting a big event on or along the River Adur each day. There will be a 2.5k and 3.5k swim at 11am on the Saturday, a dragon boat race between the bridges at 9am on the Sunday, and a 10km run at 10am on the Monday.
Jim Cunliffe said: “RiverFest organisers would like everyone in Shoreham to join in the spirit of the festival over the weekend, by dressing in a seafaring theme – pirates, sailors, fishermen, frogmen.”
