PROUD pupils who took part in the Beeding in Bloom poster competition will see their works of art in shop window displays around the village.

Beeding in Bloom committee chairman Dudley Rushmere and secretary Tricia Toe joined the children of Upper Beeding Primary School for their assembly on Tuesday, July 1, to announce the winners of the poster competition.

This year, the theme was ‘A Garden Tea Party’.

Mr Rushmere said: “The standard was exceedingly good. In particular they stuck to the brief extremely well, and the graphic ability was good also.”

Although there were fewer entries than last year, they included all age groups from four to 11 years.

Mr Rushmere presented the prizes to the winners.

All the posters will be displayed in the local shop windows during the next week.

Later this month copies of seven of them will be used to advertise Beeding in Bloom’s ‘Cream Tea and Plant Sale’ which will be held at Farthings in Henfield Road on Sunday, July 20 between 2.30pm and 5pm.

The winners of the competition were: Florence Gray, four, Layla Antunovich, six, Morgan Ottley, seven, Lilly Eggleton, eight, and Jodie Tyler, 11.

Beeding in Bloom is a committee of villagers who take on local and national flower competitions.

They hold regular monthly meetings throughout the year and organise working parties.
