Preview: Shoreham’s Ropetackle Arts Centre’s first panto
Get ready for a classic tale with a twist in Shoreham this Christmas.
The producers of the smash-hit Fairy Tales of the Unexpected are returning to the Ropetackle next week with another fantastic show after wowing audiences during the summer of 2012.
This time, promising fun for all the family, LP Creatives debut Treasure Island for six show days, from Sunday, December 23, to Saturday, December 29.
The audience will be taken on a magical trip into a world of pirates and princesses as one of the nation’s favourite children’s novels is given a panto twist.
See Jim Hawkins, Dame Dolly, Seadog Sally and, of course, Long John Silver, along with the cream of Shoreham’s young dance talent, star in lots of adventures in a show packed with action, singing, cheering and booing, lots of colourful costumes, and maybe even a monkey or two!
The show is the brainchild of popular comedian and entertainer Tom Beard.
Tom is no stranger to pantomime, having appeared in number one venues over the past 10 years, where he frequently had children (and adults) doubled up with mirth at his comedy antics.
Tom said: “Everyone knows and loves the original pirate story but you won’t have enjoyed the tale quite like this before. We want our young audience to get involved with lots of shouting, cheering, singing and laughing, and the adults can’t just sit quietly in their seats. We are after non-stop fun and laughter, whilst also staying as close to the original tale as possible.
“We’ve respectfully kept to Robert Louis Stevenson’s swashbuckling tale, which everyone can enjoy, along with some humour for both the adults and the children. The one thing we can guarantee is that everyone will leave with a smile on their face.”
Treasure Island is a spectacular children’s show created to spark the children’s imagination whilst also entertaining all the accompanying mums, dads, grandmas and grandads. It features a professional cast of actors and local children.
Show times are Sunday 10.30am, 2.30pm and 7pm, Monday 11am and 2pm, Wednesday 6pm, Thursday 2pm and 6.30pm, next Friday 2pm and 7pm, next Saturday 2pm and 6.30pm.
Tickets: adults £8, children £6, family (two adults and two children) £24.
