SWIMFIT sessions inspired by the Olympics are launching in Shoreham.

Swimmers at Impulse Leisure Wadurs will be some of the first in the UK to try the new Swimfit Activate+ group sessions, developed by swimming experts.

The workout programme follows the structure of a gym session and is designed to be a fun and effective way to get fit and tone up.

Centre manager Emma Churcher said: “If you’ve been inspired to follow in the footsteps of Tom Daley and Jessica Ennis, you too can achieve your health and fitness goals by coming along to the new and innovative Swimfit group sessions here at Wadurs.

“Our expert instructors will welcome you, assess your goals and motivate you to achieving them. It’s an exciting time to come along and be part of the world’s greatest innovation in swimming.”

Swimfit Activate+ group sessions, delivered by qualified instructors on the poolside, will take place on Mondays from 6pm to 7pm. Entry is £5.60 for non-members, £4.40 for standard members.

Sessions will launch with free trials on Monday, May 12, at 2pm and 6pm. To book, contact Wadurs reception on 01273 238000.

Swimfit has been developed by experts at the Amateur Swimming Association and is supported by British Gas.

The Activate+ group session is a new social experience, using support from fellow swimmers to motivate people to go to greater lengths every time they swim.

The group who developed it said: “Swimfit is all about getting results and helping you achieve your goal, whether that is to lose weight, to tone, to improve technique or just to become fitter and stronger.”

Instructors will discuss individual goals before swimmers get started on their own workout programme, including various strokes and tips to get more from the swim. Back at home, swimmers can log on to swimfit.com to track their progress.
