A RESIDENTS’ action group has called a public meeting to gather support for a safe crossing on Old Shoreham Road.

The Facebook group, A Safer Old Shoreham Road, wants to see improvements to the A283 out of town, particularly around the Swiss Gardens Primary School area.

The group is calling for support and a public meeting is being held on Thursday, April 24, at Swiss Gardens Primary School at 6.30pm.

Organisers said: “Previous attempts to get a crossing have been rejected – we need your support for action.”

There are concerns for pedestrians and dog walkers crossing the road on the school run, to get into town, or to access the riverside footpaths.

Problems have also been experienced by motorcyclists and cyclists trying to join Old Shoreham Road when there is a fast flow or congested traffic, particularly from Freehold Street.

East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton and Adur councillors are expected to attend the meeting to air their views, alongside those of residents. Visit www.asosr.co.uk for more information.
