Kiddie Coupon venture taking off for Rustington entrepreneur
With the cost of eating out and finding fun entertainment seemingly costing an ever financially-draining amount for the average family, Jo Lecuyer believed she has hit on just the right business venture.
Setting up the Kiddie Coupon scheme last year has proved to be one of the best things the former teaching assistant ever did,
Like many of the best ideas, it’s a straight forward concept in offering a book of vouchers for £10, which are aimed at families with children of primary school age. They are redeemable for those visiting a wide range of West Sussex day-trip destinations and restaurants.
Working with everyone from Fishers Farm Park through to Arundel Wetlands Trust and Butlins, mum of three Jo said it has taken a “little arm twisting” to arrange some of the deals, but there are some genuinely impressively money-saving offers available. Her latest book, which features dining and party offers, has a true value of £775 if all the vouchers are used.
The Herald and Gazette series is now teaming up with this fast-growing venture to offer 10 voucher books to our readers, so don’t miss out on the chance to plan some great value days out.
As Jo explained, invaluable family support from her husband and children helped her to get the business off the ground, including her mother, who had been a great inspiration.
“I’d had the idea a few years ago and having three children and worked at a primary school in Rustington for a number of years, working with kids is just something I’ve always done. My mum had always backed me for my idea and when she died suddenly it made me realise that life’s very short, so you have to make the most of opportunities.
“I had actually registered the company in 2009 and we put the first book of vouchers out last year and sold quite a few. It’s taken a little time though as people are sometimes a little cautious of something new. People say to me, “what’s the catch with this then?” well there really isn’t one, if you use all these offers, they are actually worth hundreds of pounds.”
As Jo added, she’s had some sterling assistance from young 19 year-old web developer Andrew Sula, who has come up with a smart web page for her home-based company. While she admitted there’s been plenty of hard graft in setting it up, there’s already been a significant number of orders placed in the first few weeks of the year.
