ONE of the county’s most successful farmers markets celebrated 15 years of trade last Saturday.
Steyning farmers market has been running since 1999, selling local produce and home-made food.
The occasion was almost marred by bad weather as the day started out with rain, but the sun broke through and the crowds came out to support the traders.
Vicki Crush, who runs a vegetable and flower stall, set up the market with her husband 15 years ago.
“It went very well,” said Vicki.
“It was quite a jolly morning with the band there and people seemed to enjoy it. Everyone seemed to be cheerful.”
Vicki’s daughter Louise Crush said: “It was a lovely, buzzy market as usual, with a great variety of produce from our local producers, and lots of happy customers.”
