PEOPLE in Shoreham should brace themselves for the possibility of flooding tonight.
The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the town, particularly for waterfront properties around the A259, near the Old Parcel Force site.
The agency also warned Shoreham’s houseboats could be affected by the overnight high tide, which could lead to flooding at Shoreham Airport, in Shoreham High Street and in areas of Riverside Road and the harbour’s east arm.
The flood warning states: “High water levels coupled with a storm surge mean that there is a likelihood of property flooding occurring. The impacts are not expected to be widespread. It is recommended that any property protection measure you have is deployed before the high tide. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and update this message as necessary.”
