BARGAIN books of all varieties are available in a Southwick charity shop for just a penny each.
Emmaus Brighton and Hove is clearing out its warehouse and has thousands of books to sell in what is being described by the charity as ‘one of the best book sales ever’.
All books in the secondhand superstore in Drove Road, Portslade, and Emmaus by the Sea in Station Road, Southwick, are priced at just 1p each, until Saturday.
The Southwick charity shop is open 10am to 5pm. It supports formerly homeless people by giving them a home, meaningful work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to get back on their feet again.
Business manager Joel Lewis said: “Emmaus Brighton and Hove offers accommodation to 48 men and women.
“For many people who experience homelessness, one of the biggest obstacles they must overcome is a loss of self-esteem. Emmaus provides an opportunity to regain this, with a chance to make a real contribution to their community.”
