ADUR Council has objected to an appeal to extend a concrete plant’s licence until 2020 because of plans to build housing in the area.
Kendall Bros, the firm that owns the plant in Brighton Road, Shoreham, asked the county council to grant a temporary extension.
Adur Council objected amid plans to clear the Western Harbour Arm for housing in the near future.
Carol Albury said allowing any extension whatsoever would be ‘completely wrong’ adding that nearby residents had suffered from noise and dust for long enough.
Peter Metcalf said there was a danger that proposed housing would end up next to an industrial site if the plant was allowed to extend its license yet again.
The decision rests with West Sussex County Council.
