Council emails down again
News that the council email system was down again last week has angered residents.
Gina Citroni, chief executive officer at Amplicon Liveline, told the Herald last Wednesday: “Before Christmas it was impossible to reach ADC via email as the system was ‘down’. It hasn’t worked properly since and today its ‘down’ again.”
She questioned why the problem hadn’t been cured.
“What exactly are the ADC employees doing during this ‘down’ time?” asked Gina, of Church Lane, Upper Beeding.
“How are they managing the expectations of the local IT savvy residents? What has this cost and how much will it cost to put it right?”
A spokeswoman for Adur Council told the Herald: “Disruption to our email service was inconvenient for staff, not to mention our residents, however, emails aren’t the sole method of communicating as correspondence, telephone, social media and face-to-face continues.
“Emails are a key component of our communication – as in most organisations – but staff were continuing with their work throughout the temporary disruption. Our aim was to maintain ‘business as usual’.
“The waste was collected and the streets cleaned as per the weekly schedules, theatres and leisure bookings were possible and benefits were paid, to name but a few.”
