Concern raised for teen surfers

A MOTHER raised the alarm when she lost sight of her son and his friend while surfing.

The boys, aged 14 and 15, had been surfing in the windy and rainy conditions off Southwick Beach on Friday.

Both the inshore and all-weather Shoreham RNLI lifeboats were launched at 3.35pm.

The mother of one of the boys had lost sight of them and, concerned for their safety, had raised the alarm.

But just as the lifeboat had started searching, the mother informed the coastguard she had located them and they were safe.

Both boats were stood down and returned to station.
