THE votes have been counted and the winner of the Herald & Gazette chip shop of the year competition can now be revealed.
Readers across the area were asked to nominate chip shops, and then to vote for their favourite once nominations had been received and the shortlist drawn up.
They voted in their droves, with Chipwick, in Brighton Road, Worthing emerging as the winner.
Owner Adam Rance said it was a great honour for him and Chipwick, which has both a takeaway and eat-in restaurant.
“It’s really good,” he said. “It is really appreciated that our customers have taken time to vote for us.
“It fantastic for all the staff and myself to be recognised as the best fish and chip shop – it is what we aim to be.
“Big thanks, too, to my staff. We have got a really, really good team of people who look after the business, they’re great, and thanks again to our customers.”
