MORE than 50 people found time for a cuppa at Glebelands Day Centre in Shoreham.

The specialist day centre, in Middle Road, took part in Dementia UK’s Time for a Cuppa event on Friday (March 8).

Those going along included carers or families of people with dementia, as well as professionals.

They were able to experience the day centre in action and meet representatives from the Memory Assessment Service, the Alzheimer’s Association and the Dementia Crisis Team.

As well as giving people the chance to see the centre, which provides support to adults with dementia or an acquired brain injury, the event raised £82 to help fund a specialist Admiral Nurse.

A spokesman for West Sussex County Council, which runs the home, said: “All people who attended found the event useful and were pleased to see the facilities on offer.

“Some people who attended were interviewed for the Movies & Memories reminiscence project, which was showing a film it has been making, called A Time to Remember West Sussex. These people were asked for their memories of growing up in places like Shoreham. Recalling memories helps people with dementia.”
