MUSIC fans and businesses are being invited to play their part with the Sussex International Piano Competition being staged in Worthing.

Supported by the Worthing Symphony Orchestra, organisers are seeking musical families to host the 24 finalists and sponsors for the event.

The competition, which will take place at the Assembly Hall in April between April 9-14, follows a successful initial contest which took place in 2010.

From a business perspective, it is intended to create a ‘100’ club consisting of 100 music-loving firms or individuals to donate £100 towards the cost of staging the international challenge.

It will also feature performances from young international concert pianist Arta Arnicane, with a grand prize of £12,000 on offer for the competition winner.

The event has already secured a number of patrons including keyboard player Rick Wakeman, renowned conductor Karl Jenkins and BBC presenters Katie Derham and John Inverdale.

Families with access to a piano are also being sought to act as hosts for the competition’s finalists, which will be a crucial part of enabling the event to be staged.

To enrol in the Competition’s 100 Club or enquire about being a host family, e-mail organising director Timothy J. Chick on tjcsipc@gmail.com For full story see next edition of the Herald.
