THE Air Cadets are looking for youngsters aged 13 to 18 who are interested in flying, gliding, camping and much more
The 1440 (Shoreham) Squadron is opening its doors to potential new recruits, and is holding an open evening on Thursday, February 27, from 7pm onwards.
Commanding Officer of the Squadron, Pilot Officer Rich Sage, said: “The cadets take part in so many activities, both on the Squadron as well as further afield.
“In 2013 we had cadets away on camp in Gibraltar and playing bagpipes with other cadet forces up in Inverness. It’s full of variety.”
Cadets get access to activities such as flying in two-seater aircraft, gliding and other airborne-based courses, as well as more ground-based involvement such as climbing, canoeing and military-themed exercises.
The Squadron also holds parade nights twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm to 9.30pm, where cadets get the opportunity to learn about aviation-related topics, take part in drill and marching instruction, and other team-based exercises designed to develop their leadership and teamwork qualities.
The Squadron is based on the corner of Eastern Avenue and Eastern Close in Shoreham.
