Lions make £1,000 donation to partially sighted

ADUR East Lions Club has made a donation of £1,000 to local charity 4sight to purchase membership packs for those who have recently been diagnosed as partially sighted.

The packs contain a number of items to help partially- sighted people.

Among the items included are rubber stickers called ‘bumpons’ which can be used to mark everyday items such as settings on a washing machine, keys, dials and buttons.

There was also a handwriting pen with a bold, black ink, an LED torch keyring, a signature guide to help sign documents and an envelope guide.

Adur East Lions president Gillian Anderson said: “I know that Kirstie has had the idea for these bags for a long time so Adur East Lions Club are really pleased that the money donated has enabled her to make them available at last.”

Community outreach worker for 4sight, Kirstie Thomas, said the charity was very grateful and delighted to receive this donation.

“We are fortunate to be able to put it towards supporting local people with sight loss and hope to reach more people in need of this service.”

4sight will be one of the charities attending a charities table-top sale organised by Adur East Lions at Shoreham Methodist Church Hall on the morning of Saturday, October 11.

Free tea and coffee will be provided.
