Lifeboats launched to report of missing person

Two lifeboats were launched this afternoon near Shoreham Beach after a report came through of a missing person, police have said.

According to police, the boats were called out around 12.20pm today after a person was reported to have been in the water.

The boats carried out a search near the shoreline around Shoreham and Lancing.

But police said the search was called off when it was reported the missing person had been found at home safe and well.

The RNLI tweeted it had launched two boats but had stood down when the person was found.
