DAFFODIL sellers were out in force in Shoreham town centre, to support Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Adur East Lions Club members donned giant yellow hats to sell the charity’s daffodil pin badges at Shoreham Farmers’ Market and in High Street last Saturday.
Lion Doreen Young, Daffodil Appeal co-ordinator, said the club carried out the collection every March.
“Our club members were out in force, collecting on behalf of Marie Curie for the Great Daffodil Appeal.
“With our support, it helps Marie Curie nurses to provide free hands-on care for terminally ill people in our community.
“We collected an amazing £814.41, thanks to the people of Shoreham.”
From the money collected, £20 provides one hour of nursing care in a terminally ill person’s home. Nurses are provided completely free to patients and their families.
Danielle Larner, partnership manager for Marie Curie, said: “The Lions Clubs of the British Isles’ support of the Great Daffodil Appeal over the past two years has been incredible.”
Overall, the Lions had funded 2,000 nights of care and support at home for people living with a terminal illness.
