There are reports of heavy delays around the Findon roundabout and between Worthing and Shoreham this morning as the area continues to be a main diversion route with the A27 shut.
The A280 Long Furlong is open but there is congestion after a second crash on the stretch of road within 24 hours happened yesterday evening, Wednesday, August 27. No one was believed to have been badly injured.
It follows the fatal head-on collision on Tuesday evening at the Findon end of the road, where a 20-year-old man from Worthing died and another driver suffered minor injuries.
There are also reports this morning of heavy traffic between the B2223 Ham Road, Worthing, and the A283 High Street, Shoreham in both directions.
A stretch of the A27 around Shoreham will now remain closed until Monday following the plane crash.
The road is likely to be reduced to a single lane each way with repairs expected to take weeks.
