Worthing man injured in car park fall

A man from Worthing was hospitalised after falling from the top of a two-storey car park.

The incident happened in Horsham town centre yesterday afternoon, after police received a call to say two men were seen drinking on the top level.

A police spokesman said: “At 5.06pm on Monday, September 26, police were called to the Copnall Way car park, Horsham, where two men were seen to be on an upper level, one of whom was holding a bottle of wine.

“Almost immediately after the call to police, one of the men, a 28-year old from Worthing, was seen to fall two storeys to the ground.

“He was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which were not initially assessed as life threatening.”

The police spokesman added: “The incident is not being treated as suspicious and it is believed that the man fell accidentally.”

Four police cars and two ambulances along with paramedic vehicles were called to the incident.

At the same time an emergency services helicopter was seen circling over Horsham town centre, though it is thought he was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
