CYCLING Music has come full circle for Shoreham guitarist Richard Durrant.
Having been crafted a prayer blanket for his cycling tour, he is now doing a fundraising concert to thank the church.
The Church of the Good Shepherd on Shoreham Beach presented him with the blanket before the tour of the UK started.
Richard, a member of the church, explained: “The church has a tradition of knitting blankets for people who need help or are going on a journey and they felt I needed one. Maybe I did and it did a good job – I survived!
“I always felt that I should have done a Cycling Music concert in the church, because I had played it pretty much everywhere else, and it’s nice to give something back.”
The blanket went everywhere with Richard and co-rider Sean Simington as they pedalled up and down the country, and it was put up on stage in pride of place at every concert on the tour.
Now, Richard is about to complete the cycle of Cycling Music concerts with the final one for the year at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Shoreham Beach, on Saturday, September 20, at 7pm.
It will be the same as the concerts he has been doing on tour, with the bike on stage and bicycle percussion. Tickets are £10 adults, free for under-16s, with half the money going to the church. Call 01273 453422 to book.
