DAREDEVIL pilot Doug Gregory, who received a special presentation at Shoreham Airshow last year, has died.

He started the Great War Display Team in 1988 and he personally displayed at Shoreham 26 times over the years.

Sir Dusty Miller, president of the RAF Association, made the presentation on behalf of the display team and said it was a privilege to meet Mr Gregory, who had retired the previous autumn as Britain’s oldest stunt pilot.

The display team announced on Sunday that 92-year-old Mr Gregory had died from his injuries, following a hit and run near his home in Hampshire.

His wife, Liz, who was with him at Shoreham Airshow last year, expressed her ‘heartfelt thanks for all the support and messages of goodwill’ which had ‘buoyed her up during this difficult time’.
