PUPILS at Glebe Primary School in Southwick ended the spring term in the traditional fashion.

Excited children filled the hall, sitting on either side of the central catwalk, for the annual Easter Bonnet Parade on Friday.

To the sound of Judy Garland’s Easter Parade, pupils from key stage one took to the stage to model their varied and colourful creations and judges awarded prizes for the best bonnets.

Older pupils from key stage two took part in a decorated egg competition, which provided a huge number of original and entertaining entries. These included a topical Egg-lection Collection by Finley Jackson and a ghoulish Frankenstein egg created by Daisy Cooper, based on the Rocky Monster Show, this year’s school production.

Staff were involved, too, with all new teachers tasked to produce their own Easter bonnet and model it on the catwalk with panache.

Deputy head teacher Pauline Marsh, who was master of ceremonies, said: “It has been a wonderful afternoon - and all extremely yellow.

“The effort put into all the hats and eggs continues to astound me. It is an absolute delight to see all the entries and is definitely one of my favourite afternoons.”
